My learning today: Respect your children's belongings.
Your kids treasure their toys, irrespective of how beat up they are. Just because you think they look run down doesn't mean you have the right to throw them away without their knowledge. Keep the toys that aren't played with anymore in a box. Pull them out several months later and it will seem like brand new toys for the kids. They get the same joy you do when you find an old item.
Toy recycling is cheaper and creates an appreciation for belongings. Then, teach them to care for their things so they last longer. Remember though, you need to set a good example by caring for yours. Later, teach them to be generous by donating their toys.
