  • Mohd Amin Said Jika konsep LoA menggunakan proses ASK- BELIEVE- RECEIVE & Manifesting menggunakan konsep DESIRE- BELIEF- EXPECTANCY. Saya percaya mana2 konsep yg baik perlu diperhalusi & disesuaikan mengikut norma dan amalan agama kita
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab One method of manifesting I use from silat is the 'salin' method or what is known as the 'totem' method in the West.

Once I had problems executing a complex movement until my mast
er said: "Watch me do this properly. Done? Now, imagine you are me. You're no longer you. You're me. Ready?"

My partner fed me the exact same attack and my body just moved, within 80% accuracy exactly like my teacher's. My body had taken the form of the buah and made it my own.

This toteming concept is often confused with 'menurun', which is an actual spiritual 'salin'. Ancient silat (Silat Tua) used the concept of 'salin' to train students who had personality defects that affected their performance.

A person who had confidence issues was given the Arjuna totem to meditate on. To visualise standing like the mythical archer from the Ramayana. Molding the physical to modify the mental. Similar to giving a violent person to meditate on Sri Devi or a low-energy person to meditate on Hanuman (high-energy, expressive, creative).

After Islam came to our shores, this method was abandoned for Tanah (replaced Arjuna), Api (replaced Hanuman), Air (replaced Sri Devi), Angin (new, the intellectual aspect).

Today, there are still silat styles that meditate or focus on one of these four elements to enable a quick switch from peacetime (Angin/Air) to wartime (Tanah/Api) attitudes.
  • Mohd Rizal Hassan NLP calls this Modelling :)
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab I had good models then :)
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab And seriously, now, when I need your strengths, I 'salin' Rizal, Ateh ZuhairiMunaFazlaidha and more. My teachers tell me, this is how you become a good person by hanging around good people. You draw strength from their iman.

Now, what would happen when we model Rasulullah (sunnah)?
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab It's the often seen as the simplistic "Hmmm... what would Rizal do?"
  • Mohd Rizal Hassan Exactly. It is as simple as that.
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab I've been toteming on the treadmill and thus far it works pretty well. You just need to know the limits of your imagination on your body. When your body starts screaming in pain and tears muscles, no amount of toteming Usain Bolt is going to help you.

So the trick is to keep your head in the clouds but your feet on the ground at the same time :)
  • Nura Muna Abdul Halim I attended a seminar some years ago. A scholar present a paper "Sebuah dialog imaginasi dengan Syed Hussin Al-Attas" (sumthing like that). It was about referring to Al-Attas' wisdom written from his books etc., how would he likely response to contemporary issues.

Just the same as "Lau kana bainana" :)
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab Nice! That would be an article from you that I would love to read please.
  • Nura Muna Abdul Halim "Sebuah dialog imaginasi dengan Muhammad SAW" ?
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab I meant an article on the seminar you attended :)
  • Nura Muna Abdul Halim Alamax! Mana letak ntah... Hihi...
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab Write about it from your memory lah...
  • Nura Muna Abdul Halim Alamak! I was fascinated more on how the paper written and presented, not the content. Adui... I can still recall the face of the Prof and his voice and tone and his facial expression but none of what he said. Haha... I was a reluctant learner! :P
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab Chit. Prof hensem punya pasai, belajar hilang entah ke mana... wakakakaka...
