A very mood-lifting sharing SyaSyaheerah in our small family.

Omoiyari.
So humble.
So NLP-presuppositions-agreeable.
So Islamic.
So close to PLF Family concept.

  • Shomiriza Shomidon Thank you for sharing Sis Nura Muna Abdul Halim. Agreed this concept is so Islamic.
  • Nura Muna Abdul Halim Ini salah satu sifat Arab jahiliyah yg dianjurkan Rasulullah.. Takriimud-dhuyuf means honouring your guests. Tetamu itu tidak pula terhad kepada orang bertandang ke rumah. Termasuk orang yang datang-pergi dalam hidup kita seharian. :)

  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab My understanding: Omoiyari is a social intelligence concept practiced amongst societies with cluster-mindedness. In some cases, it can form as a result of a shared threat (sharing of resources in a commune to survive external attacks. Ref: Lost and The Walking Dead :P).

In others, it comes from resource supply. The peoples of Nusantara and the American Indians, for example, naturally share resources because there's so much to go around.

However, when stress forces change, such as resource hoarding by colonisers, some peoples retreat to the shared threat diplomatic-defensive mentality. Or, they go militant-offensive, as exemplified by the Bugis pushback of Dutch colonisation and the American Indian transformation to hunter-gatherer (colonisers introduced them to horseriding, which the Indians adopted in their new individualistic warrior culture).

Another influence is paradigm, of which Islam is one of them. Irrespective of threat or situation or change, Muslims are taught to be sharing and caring, and to regard the Ummah as their extended family, to trust and develop each other, as if their children were yours.

The PLF Family has shown exceptional examples of Omoiyari, most very overt to spend time mentioning here. We also have key individuals here fanning the flames and keeping Omoiyari alive. Let's ensure their efforts are not wasted.
