Since I'm on the issue of smoking, I remember a story of the late Ustaz Hanafi Haji Ahmad, founder of Silat Cekak Hanafi, who was a heavy smoker. One day, he decided to quit, and never went back. When asked about his decision, he famously said: "Aku tak nak jadi hamba rokok, aku nak jadi hamba Allah".

An addiction is an inability to make rational decisions. It is caused by a chemical dependency that is rooted in psychological and spiritual misalignment (unsynced). There are many kinds of chemical addictions including marijuana, cocaine, sugar (yes, it's an addiction), and sex (yes, this too).

Solely using chemicals to cure an addiction is only changing the physical condition, but the personality is still not strong enough and independent to withstand other types of attacks.

The short of it is, when you reduce dependency on the material world and increase your dependency on Allah, you become independent of all addictions. We become independent of the addiction (wahan) of life.

  • Mohd Amin Said Imam Hassan Al Banna, the Muslim Ikhwan prohibit members involved with 'addiction' because it is the cause of all the weaknesses of the organization. Enemies will dominate you through 'addiction' is.
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab Sheikh Mahmud al-Majzub, founder of Tariqat Ismailiyyah Qadiriyah has declared smoking persona non grata amongst his followers and have specific methods to fully remove this addiction from them.
  • Mohamad Sholihin Abdul Aziz I was once a smoker before...to quit smoking require a very strong will power and determination...but I always said and challenge myself...that "I am not a MAN, if I am not able to fight the 'WILL' to stop smoking" and "I am also not a MAN if I am not able to fight with my Nafs of smoking"...thinking about the benefits of smoking, wasting money, wasting time, 'berkhayal terlalu lama bila merokok serta takde paedahnya", smelly, not hygience, selfish, 'pengotor dan pembuat sampah', 'penyakit2 associated with smoking', short breathing when doing exercise, etc...THEN, I manage to quit smoking and call myself a MAN :)

  • Mohd Rizal Hassan PLF Roslan Ahmad can also share his experience on how he stopped smoking :)
  • Mohd Amin Said I first started smoking reckoning the age of 11 and stopped at the age of 25 years, 14 years of addiction. Maximum ever smoking 20 cigarettes a day. There PLF members who have worse records than me ........
  • Ejul Lutfi Setuju! Lama tak dengar dari PLF Roslan Ahmad :). Ce citer ce citer
  • Zaidy Mantop mungkin Tuan Mohd Rizal Hassan boleh share cara NLP untuk henti merokok dgn kaedah collapse anchoring supaya minda confuse rokok dgn perkara yg kita tak suka, seperti rokok = sos bilis ke :)
  • Nura Muna Abdul Halim How to differentiate addiction to fondness? Like I luv to drink coffee. I'm taking at least one shot a day and sometimes two or three shots. Some of my frens say I'm addicted. I can always pass my day without taking any coffee but, well, I luv it so I always take it. How? How?
  • Mohd Nadzrin Wahab Is collapse anchoring like the hadith where Rasulullah cures a man of his addiction to zina by asking him if he liked that others would do the same to his mother and sister?

  • Mohd Rizal Hassan Tuan Zaidy Mantop, different people have different reasons why they smoke, and different reasons why they want to stop smoking. To find the reason, do Chunking, and remember, chunk until they cannot answer.
For example, after chunking, I find out that the client smokes because he wants to be 'at peace', to be calm. I also understand beforehand that the client has a baby, so I ask if he feels calm when watches his baby sleep and he answers "Yes". I will quickly reframe AND Anchor how calm he would feel every time he watches his baby sleep and how that is far better than any rokok. I will then proceed to anchor rokok to something he find most disgusting in his life and Quantum Lingustic every Bangau which would give him that urge to reach for a rokok. :)
  • Mohamad Sholihin Abdul Aziz They are the same. My understanding about addiction/fondness is simple...as addiction/fondness is habit and behavioural based...so, "When you can't live without it...it is addiction/fondness" either it is good or bad, although the language/words is different...It is about habit and the repetition of behavioural action.
