PLF Moment: A couple of 'trainers' questioned my bringing silat as a personal development tool to audiences, calling it out-of-date and unsophisticated.

I asked them, "Would you be nice to everyone?"

One of them said, "Of course."

"Help everyone?" I asked.

"Of course".

I changed the subject of the conversation. A few minutes later, I came back with a hypothetical question.

"A dishevelled looking man stops you in the middle of the night asking for a ride. What would you do?", I asked.

"Well, if he looks dangerous, I'd go off," the other answered.

"And you wouldn't help him?", I asked.

"No."

"Why?"

"To be careful".

"If you can defend yourself emotionally and physically at the same time, you would be a far more valuable human being to society than you are right now", I winked and walked away to talk to someone else.

(Disclaimer: Do what you know you can do, with Allah's permission. If you can't do it, learn!).
